We Are
'Stay Safe Vancouver'
We are three women who live and work in Vancouver and share one goal: helping other women feel safer through knowledge. StaySafeVancouver.com began after a series of local incidents made us realize how difficult it can be to find clear, trustworthy information about personal safety in this city.
We write about the stories that matter to women who walk home after dark, take the SkyTrain alone, or simply want to understand what is happening in their neighborhoods. Our coverage includes Vancouver crime updates, Canadian safety laws, and practical self-defense guides such as our Defense Tools in Canada series, which helps readers choose safe and legal ways to stay prepared.
Every article is grounded in facts, real experiences, and a belief that awareness leads to confidence. Whether analyzing local crime, researching Canadian self-defense law, or reporting on community safety, our goal is to make trustworthy information accessible to everyone who calls Vancouver home.
Our Story
StaySafeVancouver began as a late-night conversation between three friends who had all experienced moments of fear in their own city — a stranger following too closely on the SkyTrain, a dark walk home after work, or the uneasy feeling of not knowing what to do next.
We realized how common those moments were and how few places offered reliable, non-sensationalized safety information for women. Drawing on our backgrounds in journalism, communications, and research, we built StaySafeVancouver to bridge that gap.
Today, we monitor local RCMP reports, track neighborhood crime trends, and research Canadian self-defense laws to make complex information simple and useful. What started as a small project between friends has grown into a trusted Vancouver safety resource — written by women who live here, for women who live here.
