About Stay Safe Vancouver

Founded by Women, Built for Vancouver

A women-led Vancouver publication dedicated to community safety, lawful self-defence, and local awareness.

Our Story

StaySafeVancouver began with one woman’s story.

After a close call on the SkyTrain one evening, Cindy Peterson realised how difficult it was to find clear, trustworthy information about staying safe in Vancouver. The experience left her determined to learn everything she could about self-protection, community safety, and Canadian self-defence law.

As Cindy began researching police statements, crime reports, and legal sources, her work started to attract other women who shared her concern and curiosity. Among them were Lina Zhang, who started to explore the legality of self-defence tools in Canada, and Meera Gill, who was writing about neighbourhood safety and community awareness across Metro Vancouver.

Together, they built StaySafeVancouver, a publication dedicated to factual, practical safety information for women living in British Columbia. What began as a personal project has grown into a trusted local resource read by thousands of residents each month.

Today, StaySafeVancouver serves as a trusted Vancouver news source for women’s safety, local awareness, and lawful self-defence. The team reports on Vancouver crime trends, RCMP updates, and Canadian safety laws, while also covering local and national Canadian civic issues that affect everyday security.

Their shared mission is to make reliable safety information easy to understand and accessible to everyone, helping readers feel informed rather than fearful.

StaySafeVancouver exists to empower. Every article is written with care, verified through credible sources, and designed to help readers make confident decisions about personal safety, awareness, and preparation.

Our Mission

To make Vancouver a safer, more informed city by providing factual information on personal safety, lawful self-defence, and community awareness.
